Sustainable Work
A hub for inspired people to work together.
At IET, we ensure there is always dedicated time to support the professional and personal development of every team member. We see our work as a journey—and we are on that journey together. We believe our shared spirit must be nurtured and strengthened continuously.
With that in mind, we want every member of our team to be able to answer the following questions with a confident “yes".
Is my work meaningful?
Am I passionate about what I do?
Do I have the freedom and trust to shape my work?
Does my work positively impact me and the world around me?
Do I feel challenged and supported?
Is my level of autonomy just right for me?
Do I feel competent in my role?
Am I given opportunities to grow?
Can I help others improve?
Am I encouraged to learn new skills?
Do I feel a sense of belonging?
Does my work make me feel part of a team?
Am I connected to my work?
Is this the field I am most passionate about?
If I switched fields, would I feel a loss or a sense of relief?
Mentoring
Mentoring is a key component of our approach to support our team in their personal and professional development. We believe that people should be supported and challenged at the same time in order to grow.
Mentor - Mentee Relationships
For us the mentor-mentee relationship is more than a classical one-on-one approach between one mentor and one mentee. At IET we make different topic-related mentors available for each mentee. We think that every person combines many different aspects that should be fostered individually. Therefore, we work on an individualized mentoring concept with every mentee from the start.
Supporting and Challenging
Mentors, in our understanding, are coaches whose task it is to support and strengthen peoples personal and professional skills. We also believe that both, mentor and mentee, are considered as equal contributors and that the mentor also learns from a mentee. We consider including the mentees ideas into the individual mentoring process as essential for a successful professional development.
The most important tool for successful mentoring is talking to each other, to find out where one is coming from, and where one is headed to. Respectful conversation creates trust, and trust is the bedrock of growth. Knowing that failure is not the end of the world, takes away the fear and maximizes the potential for growth that a challenge can offer.
Continuous communication is a two way street, where not only the mentees development is fostered, but the mentor also learns about and is able to trust in the mentees abilities and vision for the future. This is why we encourage mentees to bring their own ideas to the table. From self-improvement ideas to workflow enhancements and bold project proposals—every input matters. This not only boosts engagement, but also empowers people to actively shape the future of IET.
